PRP
SKIN RESTORATION

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is an advanced regenerative procedure that utilises the patient’s own blood-derived growth factors to stimulate cellular repair, enhance collagen synthesis, and restore overall skin quality. Following a controlled centrifugation process, a concentrated plasma rich in platelets is isolated and applied to the skin in conjunction with microneedling. This technique creates micro-channels within the dermis, allowing for deeper penetration of growth factors and triggering a controlled wound-healing response. As a result, fibroblast activity is stimulated, leading to increased production of collagen and elastin, improved dermal density, and enhanced skin texture.PRP therapy is particularly effective in addressing fine lines, loss of elasticity, uneven skin tone, and early signs of ageing. It promotes a progressive, natural regeneration of the skin, rather than a superficial or temporary correction. At PRP Aesthetic Clinic, all therapies are performed under the clinical expertise of Dr Bruno Amendola, whose extensive experience in aesthetic medicine ensures that each treatment is precisely tailored to the individual patient. Treatment depth, technique, and protocol are carefully adjusted according to skin condition, biological response, and desired outcome, ensuring both safety and optimal efficacy. The result is a refined, healthier, and more resilient skin structure, achieved through the body’s own regenerative mechanisms.

WHAT DOES PRP TREAT?

  • ACNE SCARRING  Atrophic scarring (ice pick, boxcar, and rolling types) responds particularly well to the combined collagen-induction of microneedling and PRP's concentrated growth factor delivery. Published meta-analysis data demonstrates 2.97x higher odds of significant improvement compared with microneedling alone.

  • FINE LINES AND WRINKLES  PRP-stimulated collagen synthesis and progressive dermal remodelling visibly soften fine lines, particularly around the eyes, mouth, and forehead.

  • UNEVEN SKIN TEXTURE  The controlled micro-injury of microneedling, combined with PRP's regenerative action, accelerates cellular turnover, replacing compromised surface cells with smoother, more uniform skin.

  • DULL OR FATIGUED COMPLEXION  By promoting angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels), PRP improves oxygen and nutrient delivery to the skin, restoring a naturally radiant appearance.

  • ENLARGED PORES  Progressive collagen remodelling around pore structures can reduce visible pore size across a course of treatment.

  • SUN DAMAGE ANBD PHOTO AGEING A 2024 systematic review confirmed that PRP provides meaningful protection against UV-induced skin damage and significantly enhances the repair of photoaged skin.

PRP Processing Explained

To obtain Platelet-Rich Plasma, a small sample of blood is collected and placed into a medical centrifuge. Through controlled high-speed rotation, the blood is separated into its individual components based on density.

This process isolates a concentrated plasma layer rich in platelets, positioned above the red blood cells and separated by a thin intermediate layer known as the buffy coat. The resulting plasma contains a significantly higher concentration of growth factors compared to baseline blood levels.

Why This Matters

The value of PRP lies in this concentration process. Platelets are biologically active cells responsible for initiating tissue repair. Once concentrated, they release key growth factors such as PDGF, VEGF, EGF, and TGF-β, which play a central role in cellular regeneration.

By isolating this fraction, PRP therapy allows these regenerative signals to be delivered in a targeted and clinically effective way.

From Blood to Regenerative Plasma

Rather than being used in its original form, blood is transformed through centrifugation into a refined biological concentrate.

  • The lower layer consists of red blood cells

  • The middle layer contains white blood cells and platelets

  • The upper layer is platelet-rich plasma, the component used in therapy

This separation ensures that only the most biologically active elements are utilised during treatment.

Clinical Relevance

At PRP Aesthetic Clinic, this process is carried out using medical-grade centrifugation systems to ensure consistency, purity, and optimal platelet concentration.

Under the expertise of Dr Bruno Amendola, careful attention is given to every stage of preparation, as the quality of PRP directly influences treatment outcomes.
